Casio's industrial designers in Tokyo finished the F-91W in 1989 and have not touched it since. The mould tools still in use in Yamagata produce the same case, the same buttons, the same green LCD that was first photographed for the 1989 catalogue.
Document 01 / Origin
In 1989, a 21-gram object left a factory in Yamagata and proceeded to outlive presidents, marriages, smartphones, and the Soviet Union. It is still in production. It has never been redesigned.
Document 02 / The Family
Nothing in this lineup has been redesigned in three decades. Some objects get it right the first time and the trick afterwards is to leave them alone.
